How often is data collected?
Data is collected every 5 minutes and then delivered to the application in 15 minute intervals. After an hour of data is collected, data is rolled up to be displayed in hourly data points on specific device graphs. For environment-level graphs, hourly roll up data is displayed.
Does Goliath Cloud Monitor support role-based access?
Yes, there are multiple roles available - Owner, Admin, and Viewer with varying levels of permissions assigned to each by default. Users with the Owner role can access all areas of the product, Admins have access to all but the Billing area, and Viewers cannot access the Settings areas.
How often do the dashboards and charts refresh?
All pages refresh every 5 minutes, automatically.
How do I adjust the monitoring thresholds to better fit my environment?
You can adjust thresholds for most monitors using the Monitors page and then clicking on the specific monitor you want to adjust. Be sure to save your changes.
How do I configure email notifications?
Use the Settings > Notifications Settings page to add email addresses for users that should receive notifications. You can add addresses to the main page for anyone that wants to receive all email notifications, or you can add users to specific alert levels (Critical, Warning, Info) for users that just need to receive specific types of alert notifications.
How can I see memory metrics for EC2 instances?
To enable memory, and many other performance metrics, for AWS EC2 instances, you must first have the CloudWatch Agent installed and configured on your EC2 instance. Refer to Amazon's documentation on deploying and configuring the agent. Once configured, memory metrics will be picked up automatically and displayed within widgets in the dashboard.
Do I need to install an agent?
Goliath Cloud Monitor connects directly to each service to collect metrics using available APIs - there is no need to install an agent. Once an environment is added, data is collected automatically via the APIs. In some cases you may need to make use of an agent made available from the vendor to enable some metrics (CloudWatch Agents and EC2 instances for example).
How is Goliath Cloud Monitor Billed?
Customers are billed monthly based on usage for each virtual machine or desktop monitored (for AWS this includes individual WorkSpaces or EC2 Instances). View the Billing page within the app for pricing and plan details as well as payment options.
Is Multi-Factor Authentication Available for Access?
Yes. Customers can enable two-factor authentication at the tenant or individual user level within their instance.
What Security Protocols are in use?
Depending on the cloud provider, data security protocols can vary. Most providers' APIs are HTTPS-based REST APIs. Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol level depends on the requirements from each provider and the endpoint. For example, AWS and MS Azure today both use TLS 1.2.
Does Goliath Cloud Monitor support additional languages?
Currently English is the only language that is supported and displayed on the user interface. Additional languages, including German and Spanish, will be included in later updates.
I can't access the multi-factor QR code
When accessing the Goliath Cloud Monitor’s multi-factor QR code, you may need to make adjustments to get the app to read the code correctly, for example when using Duo on an Android device. Some methods that have been reported to work include:
- Using a different phone camera (front-facing versus back)
- Adjusting the proximity of the phone to the screen as well as the orientation (landscape versus portrait).
- Altering the focus of the camera by not focusing directly on the code, but instead on an object or other image within the frame.
- Lastly, using another authenticator app (Google Authenticator)
