With Goliath Cloud Monitor, you can Monitor your Azure Virtual Machines and your Azure Virtual Desktop environments.
Figure: An MS Azure environment within GPM
Each Azure environment added will automatically begin to bring in data related to Azure VMs and AVD. The data that is collected depends on the access the subscription has that was used to add the environment. For details on what is required for adding Azure, see Adding an MS Azure Environment.
Note on Terminology Used in GCM
Virtual Desktops refer to Azure Virtual Desktop sessions, whether an application or desktop session, they are represented within GCM as Virtual Desktops.
Virtual Machines refer to Azure Virtual Machines.
The environment page include four sub pages, each with it's own set of widgets displaying data.
Dashboard
The Dashboard, seen above, provides an overview of your Azure data, displaying both Virtual Desktop (AVD) and Virtual Machine metrics. Averages across all machines are displayed in each widget. Changing the timeframe using the date picker at the top of the page will affect the data displayed.
| Widget | Description |
| Virtual Desktop Average Latency | The average Round Trip Time for all Azure Virtual Desktop sessions in the selected timeframe. |
| Virtual Desktop Average Launch | The average Launch Time for all Azure Virtual Desktop sessions in the selected timeframe. |
| Virtual Desktop Connection Rate | The number of times an Azure Virtual Desktop session connected or failed a connection in the selected timeframe. |
| Virtual Machines Running | The number of Azure Virtual Machines in the Running state. |
| VM Memory Usage Average | The average Memory usage across all running Azure Virtual Machines for the selected timeframe |
| VM CPU Average | The average CPU usage across all running Azure Virtual Machines for the selected timeframe |
| VM Network Usage Average | The average Network usage Read across all running Azure Virtual Machines for the selected timeframe |
| VM Disk Usage Average | The average Disk usage Read across all running Azure Virtual Machines for the selected timeframe |
| VM Average Performance Metrics | Displays trend data for average CPU and Memory for Azure Virtual Machines across the select timeframe. |
| VM Disk Read/Write Metrics | Displays trend data for Disk Read and Disk Write for Azure Virtual Machines across the select timeframe. |
| VM Network Read/Write Metrics | Displays trend data for Network Read and Network Write for Azure Virtual Machines across the select timeframe. |
| Virtual Desktop Latency | Displays trend data for Azure Virtual Desktop session Round Trip Time (RTT) across the select timeframe. |
| Virtual Desktop Launch | Displays trend data for Azure Virtual Desktop session Launch Times across the select timeframe. |
| Virtual Desktop Average Latency by Region | Displays trend data for Azure Virtual Desktop session RTT across the select timeframe and by Azure Location. |
| Virtual Desktop Average Launch by Region | Displays trend data for Azure Virtual Desktop session Launch Times across the select timeframe and by Azure Location. |
Host Pools
Host Pools page displays all Azure Host Pools configured in your environment. Click any Host Pool name for additional details about the hosts within that host pool and the number of sessions on each host currently.

You can click again on the number of sessions to bring up a filtered list of sessions on that host.
Virtual Machines
Virtual Machines page displays all Azure Virtual Machines, including Azure Virtual Desktop hosts and other VMs, in your environment.
From here you can quickly see the state of each VM, its location and additional details about the VMs being monitored.
Click the name of any VM to see additional VM details.
The following widgets are available for individual VMs. Some charts display threshold lines to show when metrics are exceeding levels set by the monitors. When a metric does exceed a threshold, an alert is generated.
| Widget | Description |
| VM CPU Usage | Displays trend data for average CPU for the Azure Virtual Machine across the selected timeframe. Click a datapoint to see a Day View with more granular data. |
| VM Memory Usage | Displays trend data for average Memory for the Azure Virtual Machine across the selected timeframe. Click a datapoint to see a Day View with more granular data. |
| VM Network Usage Average | The average Network usage Read and Write for the Azure Virtual Machine for the selected timeframe. |
| VM Disk Usage Average | The average Disk usage Read and Write for the Azure Virtual Machine for the selected timeframe. |
Virtual Desktops
Virtual Desktops displays all Azure Virtual Desktop sessions in your environment. AVD sessions are displayed as long as they are available within Azure.
The Virtual Desktops table displays useful info for finding and troubleshooting your AVD sessions including launch times, latency (RTT), session type, host details, client type and version.
To quickly find a specific AVD session, use the Search option at the top of the page and the sorting options by clicking each column header.
You can also limit the number of records displayed by using the Records per page option at the top.
Click the name of an AVD session to view additional session details.

Use the date picker at the top of the page to limit the metrics displayed to a specific timeframe.
Use the Show Thresholds option to display threshold lines for any of the charts where supported.
The following widgets are available for each individual virtual desktop (AVD Session).
| Widget | Description |
| Virtual Desktop Connection Summary | Displays all connection attempts, successes and failures for the AVD session across the selected timeframe. |
| Virtual Desktop History | Displays a record of all connection attempts, successes, failures, and disconnects across the selected timeframe. |
| Virtual Desktop Latency | Displays Round Trip Time (RTT) for the AVD session for the selected timeframe. Select a data point to open the Day View and see more granular data. |
| Virtual Desktop Launch | Displays Launch times for the AVD session for the selected timeframe. |
You can use the Share icon at the top to copy a link directly to the AVD session page.
